Iran’s nuclear initiative, a wise diplomatic move: Pak Journalist

Islamabad, Jan 12, IRNA -- A senior Pakistani journalist and defence analyst on Tuesday said that Iran has taken a wise diplomatic move by inviting several world countries to visit its nuclear facilities.
Talking to IRNA Javed Siddiq said that the Iranian initiative would help in dispelling ongoing negative Western propaganda against its peaceful nuclear program.
Iran has invited envoys of some of the six world powers and European Union nations to visit its nuclear facilities ahead of talks in Istanbul over its atomic program.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has said recent move by Islamic Republic is in line with the country’s previous measures regarding its transparent and peaceful nuclear activities.
'The representatives of some European Union countries, NAM (Non-Aligned Movement), and some representatives of the five-plus-one (six world powers) have been invited to visit our nuclear sites,' Foreign Ministry Spokesman further said.
Javed Siddiq, expressing his views, hailed Iran’s nuclear initiative saying that it would help in building the trust between Iran and other world countries. “Iran has taken a very wise diplomatic move”, he added.
“The move will also counter negative Western propaganda against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program”, the analyst observed.
The journalist added that Iran, being the signatory of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, (NPT) can use nuclear energy for peaceful means. He completely refuted the notion that Iran is after nuclear weapons.
“There is no evidence available that Iran is trying to build a nuclear bomb, it is just propaganda”, he believed.
He said that Iran’s invitation would bring more transparency over its nuclear issue. “Iran wants to tell the world that it is not pursuing a weapon oriented nuclear program and is open for the inspection of friendly states”, he said.
Javed Siddiq made it clear that Iran, being an independent state, has every right to make its policies and no other country should interfere with the affairs of the Islamic state.
The analyst opined that Iran has been cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and following the international law regarding its nuclear program.
The new series of talks between Iran and the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany has focused on international concerns about nuclear arms and the requirement for the nuclear weapons states to dismantle their stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction according to the timetable set by the United Nations.
