PTT to turn Thailand to be bio-plastic production hub
BANGKOK, Jan 11 (TNA) - PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), Thailand’s petroleum giant--has announced its herald-plan to house Thailand with bio-plastic production facilities--through its chemical group or PTTCHEM--which will steer its future expansions to domestic and Southeast Asian petrochemical industries with full environmental-concerns.
PTT Chemical President & CEO Veerasak Kositpaisal said PTTCHEM’s five-year investment plan to house the new facilities will boost its production capacity of bio-plastic products to more than 100,000 tonnes a year, and that the decision has come in response to growing demand of the bio-degradable plastic goods--which now shares a global ratio of 1:5 of total world plastic consumption with its further growth projected around 10-20 percent in the near future--as environmental concerns are on the rise.
