Thailand sets “Lin Ping” on welcome show for Chinese delegation

BANGKOK, Jan 11 (TNA) - Park authorities at Thailand’s northern Chiang Mai Zoo organised on Tuesday (Jan 11) a showcase of its Chinese panda cub “Lin Ping”, as arriving Chinese delegates will be closely observing her wellbeing before making a decision whether their request for Lin Ping's extended stay in Thailand for another two years should be approved.

The showcase of the 19-month-old panda cub was staged at the Chiang Mai Zoo's open-air exhibition zone on the backdrop of China's Great Wall of China as a symbolic welcome to the visiting Chinese personnel from China’s Panda research and conservation centres--who are observing the panda family in Thailand, including Lin Ping and her parents, Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui, all lent by China.

The visit came in response to a request to Beijing from the Thai authorities for the proposed two-year extension of Lin Ping’s stay in the Kingdom for another two years beyond a contracted deadline set over the next five months.

The Thai authorities have confirmed Lin Pin's excellent health and have positively foreseen that the panda cub will be finally approved for the longer stay at the Chiang Mai Zoo, as the visiting Chinese officials have expressed their satisfaction with Lin Ping's wellbeing and development at the Thai zoo.
