Judiciary chief condoles with bereaved families of plane crash victims

Tehran, Jan 11, IRNA – Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani here Monday evening condoled with the bereaved families of the tragic Iran Air Boeing crash near Oroumiyeh.

According to the Public and Ceremonial Affairs Relations of the Judiciary Force, Larijani added that 'the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of a number of the dear citizens of our country deeply saddened me.'

Praying for the salvation of the souls of the crash victims, the judiciary chief also condoled with the 12th Imam (May Allah Hasten His Reappearance) and the Supreme Leader, praying to Almighty Allah to grant great patience and divine rewards to the bereaved families of the crash victims.

77 passengers aboard an Iran Air Boeing 727 lost their lives when the aircraft crashed during an emergency landing near the northwestern city of Oroumiyeh on Sunday at 19:40 local time.

29 other people injured in the accident are in good conditions.
Three days of mourning was announced in the province.
Oroumiyeh is the capital city of West Azarbaijan Province, located in a mountainous area and was in cloudy and snowy conditions Sunday night.

The Roads and Transportations Minister has announced that the bad weather conditions have been the major cause of the plane crash./end
