Kazakhstan ratifies SCO Antiterrorism Convention.

ASTANA, January 10 (Itar-Tass) - Kazakhstan has ratified the SCO
Antiterrorism Convention. The law on ratification was signed on Tuesday by
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the presidential press service
reported.
The Convention was signed in Yekaterinburg on June 16, 2009. Russia
has already ratified it, while in Kyrgyzstan it is considered by the
parliament. The other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation
Organisation - China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - take necessary measures
to pass the document.
The Convention fixes social and political interpretation of terrorism,
establishes the limits of jurisdiction, fixes norms concerning protection
of sovereignty and gives the approximate list of domestic measures to
prevent terrorism.
The document also outlines mechanisms for rendering assistance, for an
exchange of information and investigation activity. It establishes the
limits of jurisdiction, the list of punishable offence and measures to
prevent terrorism.
