President Ahmadinejad offers condolences on plane crash accident
Tehran, Jan 10, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad offered condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in a plane crash accident Sunday night.
In his message, the President told the minister of road and transportation to speedily investigate the cause of the accident and report the results to the President.
Ahmadinejad also urged the minister to adopt necessary measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
He also described the accident as a bitter and heart rendering event which caused great sorrow among all Iranians.
74 passengers aboard an Iran Air Boeing 727 lost their lives when the aircraft crashed near the northwestern city of Orumiyeh on Sunday at 19:40 local time.
32 other people injured in the accident are in good conditions.
Three days of mourning was announced in the province.
Orumiyeh is the capital of West Azarbaijan province which is located in a mountainous area and was in snowy conditions last night./end
