Perth coach humbled after Roar draw

Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson came close to ending Brisbane Roar's undefeated
streak yet he would not predict when their A-league record would fall.
Now third last and with only a skerrick of hope of making the playoffs, Perth led
the Roar at Suncorp Stadium until the 62nd minute before having to settle for a 1-1
draw.
Ferguson said his side worked well on pressuring the competition pacesetters who he
says are deserved title favourites.
"It was pleasing to see we frustrated them a bit," Ferguson said almost talking down
the fact that his side, which was a $7.50 outsider before the game, took it up to
the Roar.
"For me they are by far the best team in the A-League.
"It's very difficult to stop them in the form they have been in.
"I thought we were worthy of 1-0 at half time and I thought we played well and moved
it well and frustrated Brisbane.
"But we knew in the second half they'd come out and that's what happened and they
kept pushing, pushing and eventually something was going to give.
"They are the benchmark in the A-league at the moment."
Perth's brave performance should instil hope into the rest of the competition.
The Roar has now played 20 matches without losing and are 12 points clear on top of
the table (with five matches remaining) ahead of Adelaide which has six games to
play.
Ferguson said even though the competition was relatively even, the Roar were in a
class of their own.
"Confidence is oozing out them, they have quality players, they known when to
release the ball, when to make quality runs," he said
"They create a load full of chances and they are a difficult team to play.
"But it's 11 versus 11 and bottom can beat top and so on."
Roar coach Ange Postecoglou said drawing with Perth was irrelevant as he had a low
opinion of they way his side performed and a win would not have masked his
disappointment.
"We haven't been focussing on the results," Postecoglou said.
"We could have won tonight and it would not have changed my mind how we played.
"It's not about getting results for results sake, it's about playing to a certain
level and a certain way.
"The overall performance is ordinary."
