PREMIER VISITS KUWAIT INSTITUTE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Paying an official visit, a delegation headed by the Prime Minister S.Batbold visited Wednesday the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR).
The KISR's president has introduced the institute's activities to the Mongolian delegation. For the time being, the KISR has been conducting researches on environment, urban planning, food and marine resources, oil, technologies, economics and water resources, according to the president. After getting au fait with the institute, the Premier has told accompanied him officials about a basis of effective and successful works taking an example of the institute which has a compact management accorded to standards adding that the scientific research centers might reach achievements if they work in accordance with experiences of the KISR.
The KISR's authorities have said that it has started cooperation with the Mongolia's Ministry of Environment and Tourism in specific sectors noting the institute has established a joint base and named it as Bridge for Mongolia and Kuwait. In addition to it, the National Seismological Network, one of the specialized centers of the KISR has conducted a research over earthquake situation in Mongolia.
The Premier has requested the KISR authorities to share their experiences with Mongolia on introducing scientific and technological achievements in real life and conducting research works on professional sphere.
The KISR was founded in 1967 in respect of a contract on oil established between the government of Kuwait and the Japan's “Arabian Oil” Company with key purposes to do thematic researches under three basic directions-oil, agriculture in desert lands and marine biology. In 1973, the KISR was included to the Ministerial Council in accordance with a decree of the Emir. After a few years, it has been changed as an independent and public institute.
