China, US co`s to co-develop major solar power station.
BEIJING, January 6 (Itar-Tass) - Chinese and US companies have agreed
to co-develop and build the world's major solar power station.
The China Daily writes on Thursday that a respective Memorandum has
been signed between the China Guangdong Nuclear Solar Energy Development
Company Ltd (CGN SEDC) and the world leader in the production of
solar-cell batteries, the American First Solar Inc.
According to an announcement made by the American company, the
projected station will have a power of up to 2,000 megawatts and will be
built at Ordos (Inner Mongolia Autonomous District, China) within a decade.
The project is to be implemented in three phases, the first of which
envisages the construction of a small demonstration power plant with a
power of up to 30 megawatts this year.
The construction of the world's highest-powered solar station is to be
completed in 2020. The project will become a major one in the history of
Sino-American cooperation in the sphere of renewable sources of energy.
