Landslide in Songkhla kills one

SONGKHLA, Jan 6 (TNA) - A landslide was reported in the southern Songkhla Province in Thailand early Thursday morning (Jan 6) after several hours of heavy downpours, killing a man.

Local police reported that the landslide from Khao Noi, which took place around 4am, crashed onto a bungalow located near the hill on Sadao Road and killed the 29-year-old man--who owned the bungalow as he was asleep. The police said rescuers took more than an hour to retrieve his body.

Songkhla Governor Winyu Thongsakul has ordered local authorities concerned to inspect the hillside, check for further threats, as there are a number of houses in the area. (TNA)
