Israeli child-abuser nabbed in Pattaya

BANGKOK, Jan 5 (TNA) - Officers of Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI), have arrested an Israeli national charged with sex-abuse against children aged under 15, in relation to several other transnational networks of child-abuse and cyber-pornography.

DSI Director-General Tharit Pengdit said the Israeli suspect, Eyal Tanami, was arrested at a hotel in downtown Pattaya resort city of Thailand's eastern Chonburi Province on Tuesday (Jan 4), in a joint raid by DSI officers for foreign affairs and international crime cases, and local police, after the Pattaya Provincial Court had approved his arrest warrant.

Tharit acknowledged that the Israeli accused had escaped earlier arrest and stayed at a hotel on Bangkok’s Khao San Road. It is thought he planned to flee Thailand, as he was found with two air-tickets on Qatar Airways booked for January 4 departure. His other belongings seized during the arrest included his Slovakian passport, driver’s license and identification card.

According to Thai investigators, the 35-year-old Israeli had allegedly abused young boys under the age of 15 at his hotel room in Pattaya and disseminated child pornography on the Internet, and was related to several other networks of international child-abuse, and possibly involved in transnational fake passport gangs as well.
