Fishery sector to compete oil, Fisheries Wealth Minister says
SANA'A, Aug. 11 (Saba) - The government has a strategy to make the
fishery sector at the top of the country's wealth resources
exceeding petroleum sector, Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammed
Shamlan said Monday.
During his meeting with fisheries officials at the office of
Hodeidah governorate, the minister said that this sector would
contribute to increasing the national revenue more than the
petroleum sector does.
Shamlan emphasized the necessity of abiding by the laws and
regulations that focusing on the production quality, calling the
office on re-structuring its administration and to avail from the
high-qualified cadres in this field.
He highlighted to the measures Yemen has adopted to regulate fishing
process in the Yemeni coastal line.
The minister added that the ministry has signed a contract with a
company from New Zealand to restructure the fishery sector, noting
that three authorities would be established to run the fishery
unloading centers, the first at the Red Sea in Hodeidah governorate,
the second at the Aden Gulf in Aden and the third one would be in
Hadramout governorate to run the center of the Arab sea.
