Saudi king’s visit to Iran will improve ties

TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (MNA)--Iran`s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi said a possible travel to Iran by the Saudi king is a positive gesture for improving relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz al-Saud has recently left a New York hospital after receiving treatment. He still stays in New York for recuperation.

According to the Lebanese newspaper al-Safir, King Abdullah would accept Iran’s invitation to visit Tehran.

Boroujerdi said Iran’s policy is to establish good ties with neighboring countries especially the Saudi kingdom.

The lawmaker added currently the important issue is the health condition of the Saudi monarch.

If the king be in a good condition for travelling to Tehran, then his travel would be a positive step.

Pointing to possible nominees for the post of foreign minister, the top legislator said Majlis is waiting the government’s decision.
