Prison escapee captured in WA
A man who escaped from a West Australian prison has been captured after three weeks
on the run.
Brett Shannon Klimczak, 27, was found about 30 kilometres east of Fitzroy Crossing
in the state's far north on Saturday and taken into police custody.
He escaped on December 11 from Wooroloo Prison Farm, a minimum-security facility on
the outskirts of Perth where he was serving a sentence for burglary and car theft,
police said.
Klimczak had earlier been seen travelling in a stolen Holden Commodore ute, and
police issued a warning on Friday for motorists not to pick up hitchhikers in the
area.
The public had also been warned not to approach Klimczak, saying he could react in
an "unpredictable manner".
He will be returned to Perth as soon as possible, police said.
