Sedition leaders will certainly be tried: Tehran prosecutor
TEHRAN,Jan.1(MNA) -- Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi again reassured the loyalists that the opposition leaders will be put on trial.
“The Leaders of sedition (Mahdi Karroubi, Mirhossein Mousavi, and Mohammad Khatami) are guilty and their charges will certainly be heard in a court.” Jafari Dolatabadi told a gathering of people on Friday in Tehran.
They will certainly be tried, but because the United States and the Zionist regime supported seditionists during the political unrest that followed presidential election in June 2009, the officials should take action more cautiously so that seditionists can not find an opportunity to resume their protests, he said.
“Their trial should be the coup de grace.”
He went on to say that the opposition leaders are charged with launching the “green movement,” carrying out seditious actions, undermining national security and attempting to topple the system through claiming election fraud, so a heavy punishment is awaiting them.
“The charges of the leaders of sedition are more serious than what they think; and when we issue their indictment, they will realize it,” he stated.
The prosecutor added certain opposition leaders have set conditions for the Islamic system to end their activities against the system, “but we announce that it is the Islamic system that sets conditions for them.”
First, they should stop their seditious activities against the system, and second they should stand trial, he explained.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Judiciary official said that even one day of seditious activities last year could overthrow any system, but the Islamic system did not give in and managed to put down the revolt.
