More help for farmers, businesses in Qld
More help has been announced for primary producers and small businesses affected by
flooding in Queensland.
Additional disaster assistance will be provided in 23 flood-affected local
government areas across the state.
Primary Industries Minister Tim Mulherin said primary producers and small business
operators in those areas could seek low-interest concessional loans and freight
subsidies to aid flood recovery.
The Category B assistance, under natural disaster relief and recovery arrangements,
follows the approval of Category A emergency relief and assistance for restoration
of public assets in 41 local government areas.
Areas now eligible for Category B help are Balonne, Banana, Barcaldine,
Blackall-Tambo, Bundaberg, Central Highlands, Cherbourg, Gladstone, Goondiwindi,
Isaac, Lockyer Valley, Longreach, Maranoa, Murweh, North Burnett, Rockhampton,
Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Toowoomba, Woorabinda and
Western Downs.
Mr Mulherin said operators outside those areas who'd been affected by the floods
could apply individually for additional help.
