Spending during New Year festival expected to reach over Bt3bn

BANGKOK, Dec 31 (TNA) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand or TAT projected on Thursday (Dec 30) that people will spend up to over three billion baht on tourism-related activities during the ongoing New Year holiday across the Kingdom.

TAT said that favourable factors which have supported the recovering Thai tourism industry include well-prepared public transport systems, relieving political conditions in the country, the expanding Thai economy and a number of winter-attractive tourist sites in the Kingdom.

According to TAT, the number of international travellers across Thailand from 31 December 2010 to 3 January 2011 is expected to reach 1.59 million, 190,000 of them are foreign tourists, generating tourism-related revenues of some 3.85 billion baht. (TNA)
