Thailand sets up national teachers' fund
BANGKOK, Dec 30 (TNA) - Thailand is setting up a national teachers' fund to develop Thai teachers and lecturers in honour of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who is praised as ‘Thailand’s National Teacher’.
Thai Education Minister Chinnaworn Boonyakiat said that the Cabinet has approved the setting up of the new fund as proposed by his ministry in accordance with the National Education Policy Act 1999.
Chinnaworn revealed that a fund-raising activity is scheduled from 14-18 January, 2011 to coincide with Thailand's National Teacher’s Day, and that state and private departments, including organisations and the public sector have been urged to take part.(TNA)
