Four ex-ECs get two-year suspended jail term

BANGKOK, Dec 29 (TNA) - Bangkok's Criminal Court on Wednesday (Dec 29) handed a two-year suspended jail term to each of four former election commissioners who were found guilty of illegally issuing a regulation to give themselves a pay rise.
The Criminal Court said they found former EC chairman Police General Wassana Permlarp, as well as three other ex-election commissioners, Prinya Nakchattree, Veerachai Naewboonnian and General Charuphat Ruangsuwan guilty of violating the National Anti-Corruption Act by issuing the illegal regulation on their monthly allowance of 20,000 baht retroactively from April 1, 2004 in addition to their monthly salaries.
The court said their jail term was suspended for two years because of their past records of good performances. (TNA)
