Thai drunk-driving victims join New Year's safety campaign

SURAT THANI, Dec 29 (TNA) - Nine victims of drunk-driving traveling on wheelchairs arrived at their midway destination in a road safety campaign for New Year celebrations in Thailand.
The participants, in the “Arrive Alive 2010” campaign, began their journey from the Government House in Bangkok last Wednesday. One week after their endurance, they have arrived in Thailand's southern resort Surat Thani Province amid a warm welcome by local people and officials.
Sponsored by the Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation and Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the campaign is aimed at reducing drunk-driving related fatalities during the long New Year holiday.
The wheelchair campaigners are scheduled to carry on their trip to Samui Island, a famous tourist destination in the Gulf of Thailand, Wednesday. (TNA)
