Iran`s MP seeks explanation about deployment of 90 nuclear bombs in Turkey

TEHRAN, Dec. 29 (MNA) --Iranian MP Mostafa Kavakebian called on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to protest the deployment of 90 nuclear bombs in a U.S. air base in Turkey.

According to the report, the United States has deployed 90 nuclear bombs at Turkey’s Incirlik Air Force base.

According to the daily, Turkish parliamentarians have recently discussed the issue of nuclear weapons deployed in Turkey.

Turkish MP Shukru Elekdag has questioned reasons behind keeping the bombs on the Turkish soil even decades after the end of the Cold War.

The MP reminded that in a secret cable dated November 12, 2009, released by WikiLeaks, U.S. ambassador to Germany admits the existence of these bombs on the Turkish territory.

Elekdag has also said that Turkey’s consent to the deployment of the U.S. nuclear bombs at Incirlik is an act which could not be easily explained to its Muslim and Arab neighbors.
