‘Politicization of Hariri tribunal has delegitimized it’
TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the UN Special Tribunal for Lebanon is not legitimate because its actions are politically motivated.
A tribunal which is used as a political tool is not legitimate, Mehmanparast told on Monday.
The United States’ support for the tribunal, which is investigating the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri, provides more proof that it has become politicized, he stated.
And in fact, the tribunal investigators are not seeking the truth, he added.
He went on to say that the Hariri tribunal was established to create discord between Muslim countries and to weaken the Lebanese resistance movement.
It is clear that the Zionist regime and those attempting to achieve their evil goals in the Middle East region are benefiting from the tribunal, he noted.
