Thai national parks go alcohol-free

BANGKOK, Dec 28 (TNA) - Alcohol is totally-banned now inside all national parks in Thailand.

Thai Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suwit Khunkitti on Tuesday (Dec 28) announced the policy on alcohol-free at all Thai national parks, aimed at preventing brawls and disturbances on international tourists who want to peacefully enjoy natural charms inside Thai national parks.

The minister warned that violators who bring with them alcohol or alcoholic drinks into any Thai national park will now face a legal punishment under the Thai laws, ranging from a warning probation to a maximised penalty of a certain jail term each.

Suwit said that his ministry’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has prepared both personnel and volunteers to provide park and security services for international visitors during the upcoming New Year season, including 16 tourist help-desk centres throughout the Kingdom.

He urged the international tourists to follow instructions of Thai park authorities and to help protect the natural environment during their visits to national parks in order to sustain natural resources on the Thai soil.(TNA)
