Electric power supply situation improves slowly in Moscow region
MOSCOW, December 27 (Itar-Tass) -- The electric power supply situation
is improving slowly in the Moscow Region on Monday.
"The electric power supply is being restored, but not at the pace we
would like to have," a spokesman for the Moscow United Power Grid Company
Vitaly Strugovets told Itar-Tass on Sunday. "If 8,250 electric power
transformer substations were disconnected at 3.00 p.m. Moscow time, a
little bit more than 6,000 electric power transformer substations were
disconnected at 7.00 p.m. Moscow time, 5,596 substations are still
disconnected at 9 p.m. Moscow time," he said, noting such transformer
substations provide electric power supplies to countryside communities,
residential areas, settlements and etc.
"The problem is that we are restoring the electric power supplies, but
the power lines break down again and again. For instance, we have restored
six power lines by 9 p.m. Moscow time in the Moscow Region, but soon four
of them came out of order due to fallen trees. The same situation emerged
in western and southern Moscow region," Strugovets said.
"The current situation with electric power disruptions is the heaviest
one for five years of the Moscow United Power Grid Company in operation,"
the spokesman said.
