Tehran-Kabul enjoy consolidated ties: VP

Tehran, Dec 26, IRNA – First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said here on Sunday that Tehran and Kabul enjoy amicable and consolidated relations.

Rahimi made the remark in a meeting with his visiting Afghan counterpart Mohammad Qasim Fahim after inking a joint statement on bilateral cooperation.

Iran attaches great importance to its ties with Afghanistan, Rahimi said, adding that both nations share identical language, religion and culture.

Underlining the need for further expansion of all-out cooperation between both neighboring countries, Rahimi called for boosting ties in the economic field.

Rahimi reiterated that the current visit to Tehran of the Afghan delegation would lead to further expansion of economic relations between the two sides.

Referring to Iran’s participation in various development projects in Afghanistan, Rahimi announced that the country is to construct a university in that country in the near future.

He emphasized that there is no obstacle in the way of further promotion of Tehran-Kabul relations in all areas.

Qazim Fahim, for his part, termed the Islamic Republic as a friendly country, adding that Kabul expects more from Iran compared to other countries.

He underlined the need for promotion of trade cooperation between the two nations.
