MOSCOW, December 26 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's government will allocate
2.5 billion roubles for sports medicine in 2011, the head of the federal

"Under the federal program we've filed an application for 4.5 billion

Among other necessary measures Uiba mentioned the creation of
multidisciplinary laboratories that will have equipment imitating
different sports such as long-distance race, race walking, jumping, etc.

examination in such laboratories," he said.
"There will be no victories without scientific support for athletes,"

.Russia's Father Frost gets insurance.

KURSK, December 26 (Itar-Tass) - From now on Russia's Father Frost is
protected by an insurance company during his New Year voyage across Russia.
The director of the Kursk office of Kovcheg Insurance Company, Sergei
Moshchiy, told Itar-Tass the company decided to issue an insurance
certificate to Father Frost and called his residence in Veliky Ustyug, a
town in the Volga region.
Soon after the telephone conversation Russia's Santa Claus faxed to
the insurance company expressing his readiness to get a certificate of
insurance.
"Before our trip to Veliky Ustyug we prepared all necessary insurance
documents. Finding myself in the Father Frost's residence I, a grown man,
was really surprised what a majestic and fairytale-like atmosphere is in
this place. There you can see a fairytale forest and fairytale
personalities and different forest inhabitants. Seeing all this with your
own eyes you begin to believe in fairytales about good magicians,"
Moshchiy said.
Kovcheg handed over the insurance certificate to Father Frost thus
becoming the guarantor of his life and health.
"When Father Frost lit candles on the country's main New Year Tree in
Moscow, we were confident that he was protected from odd incidents and ill
luck," Sergei Moshchiy said with a smile.

.Cape Kozhevnikov announced Russia's new nature reserve.

ANADYR, December 26 (Itar-Tass) - Cape Kozhevnikov in Russia's Chukchi
Sea was announced a new nature reserve.
Earlier this week Roman Kopin, the governor of Chukotka, said "this
measure was taken to preserve one of the biggest haulouts of the Pacific
walrus and polar bears as well as to improve conditions for rare animals
and plants that are on the edge of extinction."
Any kind of subsoil development, construction, hunting, fishing and
even plane flights lower than 2 kilometres above the reserve are forbidden.
Cape Kozhevnikov is a unique coastal ecosystem that is linked with the
coast by a pebble and sand spit that ends with a small village of
Ryrkaypiy, where the Chukchi live. The name of the village means "Place of
the Walrus" in the Chukchi language, or "Walrus Jam".
Experts say Cape Kozhevnikov hosts up to 25 percent of the world's
Pacific walrus population.
