Iran's Presidential advisor confers with Punjab governor

Lahore, Dec 26, IRNA – Presidential Advisor in Media Affairs in a meeting with Punjab province governor in Pakistan discussed issues of mutual interest with him here on Saturday.

In the meeting, Ali Akbar Javanfekr explained his negotiations with senior officials of Information Ministry of Federal government and told Salman Tathir that the aim of his visit is deepening cultural and media relations between the two countries.

Referring to his visit to Islamic International University and facing with sincere emotions of students there, Javanfekr said that this is a common feeling between the two nations which will never be removed from history of Iran and Pakistan.

He added that the two nations are standing next to each other as friends.

In recent flashflood in Pakistan, Iranians helped their Muslim brothers and in Bam earthquake, Pakistani people and government showed their brotherly feelings by sending humanitarian aid, said Javanfekr.

The presidential advisor underlined that the two nations and governments intend to expand relations and of course media and cultural cooperation would be an appropriate ground for deepening bilateral ties, because media have a big capacity for facilitating and accelerating expansion of relations.

He underlined that we are ready to exchange our experiences in the field of media and to exchange delegations and take advantage of each others' abilities in the field of training.

The Pakistani governor, for his part, said that developing ties with Iran is intention of Pakistani officials both in federal and provincial sectors.

Salman Tathir added that cooperation between the two countries existed in different sectors of politics, security and economy, but culture and media also could be a ground to fulfill common goals of Iran and Pakistan.

He underlined that cooperation in the field of culture and media is our heartfelt desire and we hope that such cooperation lead toward strengthening ties in these fields.

Javanfekr also invited the governor to pay a visit to Iran.
The president advisor and Managing Director of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) went to Pakistan last Wednesday upon an invitation extended by Information Minister of Pakistan federal government./end
