Thailand’s Airport Rail Link services to launch full-price early 2011

BANGKOK, Dec 25 (TNA) - The State Railway of Thailand or SRT announced today that fare charges of the Airport Rail Link, a new electric train system linking Bangkok's inner areas with Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi Airport, will be in its full-pricing starting from January 4, 2011, representing the Airport Rail Link's full commercial services and ending its promotional price-scheme.
SRT Governor Yudhana Thupchareon said that the Airport Rail Link's full-pricing will start with 15-45 baht for its City Line services and 150 baht for its Express Line, in which both smart passes and tokens will be in use optionally.
According to the SRT governor, international passengers of the Airport Rail Link's Express Line from the Bangkok City Air Terminal or BCAT, known as Makkasan Station, can check in 3-12 hours before their outbound flights from Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Yuthana acknowledged that the international passengers can take only a 15-minute-ride on an Express Line train from the Makkasan Station to the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and that first airlines which are now ready for the initial phase of the advance check-in services of the Airport Rail Link system include Thai Airways International or THAI, the national flag carrier and Bangkok Airways. Other airlines are expected to join the Airport Rail Link's services soon.(TNA)
