Iran President calls for enhanced co-op with Kyrgyzstan

Istanbul, Dec 24, IRNA -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a visit with his Kyrgyz Counterpart Roza Otunbayeva on Thursday called for enhanced cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting of Iranian and Kyrgyz presidents was held on the on the sidelines of the 11th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

President Ahmadinejad underlined that there is no hindrance on the way of boosting cooperation between Tehran and Bishkek, voicing Islamic Republic of Iran willingness to share its experience with the brotherly Kyrgyz nation in all areas.

Referring to the current world situation, he said time is ripe for regional countries, Iran and Kyrgyzstan in particular, to augment economic cooperation.

President Ahmadinejad said that fostering political, social, cultural and economic cooperation is beneficial for the two nations.

Meanwhile, President Otunbayeva, for his part, said Bishkek is willing to enhance level of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields.

President Ahmadinejad left Tehran for Istanbul on Wednesday to attend the ECO Summit.

Advisor and chief of staff of the President's Office Esfandiar Rahim Mashai and President's senior aide Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi are accompanying the President.

The ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985.

Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the ECO members./end
