Transport Company now ready to serve New Year holidaymakers

BANGKOK, Dec 24 (TNA) - Thailand’s state-owned Transport Company Limited announced on Friday (Dec 24) that it is now ready to serve people’s trips to their hometowns during the upcoming New Year holiday.
The company said that it is confident to cater all over three million New Year travellers by inter-provincial buses, as Wuthichart Kalayanamit, the company's top executive revealed that his company will increase passenger bus trips by 50 per cent a day, from about 3,000 trips a day currently, which can serve up to 250,000-300,000 passengers daily and should be enough to meet travellers’ demand during the New Year festival.
Wuthichart acknowledged that his state-run firm will implement similar measures it used during the Songkran festival earlier this year, including a permission for outbound travellers to board their buses at inbound areas of the Mor Chit bus terminal in Bangkok.
To ensure public safety, Wuthichart said, the Transport Company Limited has asked police to strictly guard all bus terminals. Plain-clothes police will also be deployed during the upcoming New Year festival. (TNA)
