Yemen, WB to implement Taiz Flood Protection Project

SANA'A, Aug. 09 (Saba) - Yemen and World Bank (WB) reviewed here on
Saturday current preparations for implementing the additional stage
of the Taiz Municipal Development and Flood Protection Project.

Minister of Public Works and Roads Omar al-Kurshomi held talks with
the WB's delegation headed by Sameh Wahba, who is currently visiting
Yemen, on implementation progress of the WB-funded projects in the
country.

The meeting also talked about the Taiz Municipal Development and
Flood Protection Project that its additional stage would be
initiated in the current month within the second stage of the
project that costs $ 22 million financed by WB with a governmental
contribution amounting ten percent.

The meeting highlighted the great success the project has realized
so far and its importance to serve the governorate's citizens and
improve its appearance as well as the importance of carrying out the
technical study to protect Ibb city from floods.

It also discussed the future projects that would be implemented in
cooperation with WB, topped by the project of the comprehensive
urban development in Sana'a and Taiz.

The minister al-Kurshomi praised the partnership relations with the
WB, noting to the great attention the government pays to projects of
housing, urban development for random zones.

The WB's delegation affirmed the Bnak's keenness on developing
relations with the ministry, adding that 6 studies within the
projects would be carried out in the coming period concerning land
managements and street numbering and update the traffic.
