Thai coast guards seize Vietnamese fishing boats

BANGKOK, Dec 23(TNA) - Thai coast guards have seized two Vietnamese fishing boats and arrested 10 crew members for illegal fishing off Thailand's eastern coast.

Thai officers of the Marine and Coastal Resources Conservation Center No. 1 in the eastern Rayong Province launched the operation against the two Vietnamese fishing boats while they were catching squids with hooks in the Thai waters, about 10 nautical miles to the south of Talu Island.

The Thai officers brought the Vietnamese trawlers and crew members to a pier in Ban Phe of Rayong's Muang District. They have questioned the crew members and handed them to local police for further legal action.

According to the Thai Marine and Coastal Resources Conservation Center No. 1, foreign fishing boats, especially Vietnamese boats, have always encroached on the Thai waters and caused troubles to Thai fishermen, as some of them robbed Thai trawlers in the sea. (TNA)
