Yemen, UNDP hold talks on fish sector strategy

SANA'A, Dec.20 (Saba) - Minister of Fisheries Mohammed Shamlan has met with the UNDP team in charge of preparing the
national
strategy for the fish sector.
The meeting dealt with the report of the team and results of its field visits to
coastal provinces to collect and analyze data on the fish sector as well as
conducting comprehensive
studies along the republic's coasts to determine the right place of fish
transplantation.
At the meeting, Shamlan affirmed the importance of the national strategy in
developing fisheries management, as he said the ministry is ready to provide all
facilities to
prepare this strategy.
For his part, head of the team Bowel Namis said the visit to the country came to
evaluate the fish sector situation, address disorders and establish effective
mechanisms
for problems facing the sector.
Moreover, the visit aimed to draw up good policies for fish transplantation, which
is one of the promising investment fields in Yemen, he said.
