Thai Air Force to recover victims from tour-bus crash in Malaysia

BANGKOK, Dec 21 (TNA) – The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sought cooperation from the Royal Thai Air Force to send aircraft to Malaysia to recover the bodies of Thai travellers who died from a tour-bus crash in the neighbouring country on Monday (Dec 20).
Thani Thongphakdee, Deputy Director-General of the Thai Foreign Ministry's Department of Information, promised today that the Thai demised will be sent back to Thailand as soon as possible through the cooperation between his ministry and the Royal Thai Air Force.
Thani reported that fatalities from the road accident in Malaysia have reached 27, out of a total of 37 people on board the ill-fate bus, including crew members of the tour-bus, with 25 of them identified as Thais and the remaining two as Malaysians, and that 10 others were wounded with one of them being in critical condition.
Thani said the injured Thais have been under a close care of Thai Foreign Ministry officials; while Malaysian authorities are investigating the cause of the tragic incident--in which identifications of six bodies have not yet been verified.
Thani assured, however, that the Thai Embassy to Malaysia will protect the rights of the Thai casualties and facilitate contacts with their family members--along with issuing death certificates for the fatalities before their bodies are taken back to Thailand.
The senior Thai Foreign Ministry officials noted that the tour-bus company had provided all the travellers with life insurance policies; so, family members of the dead will be compensated for their losses.(TNA)
