Ahmadinejad officially welcomes Qatari emir
Tehran, Dec 20, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad officially welcomed visiting Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani here on Monday.
During the welcoming ceremony, the national anthems of the two countries were played and then the two leaders reviewed the guard of honor.
Sheikh Hamad arrived in Tehran this morning on a day long visit. He was welcomed by Foreign Ministry Caretaker Ali-Akbar Salehi at the airport.
The Qatari emir is planned to confer with the top Iranian officials including President Ahmadinejad on various issues.
During his telephone conversation with the Qatari emir on December 12, President Ahmadinejad congratulated the Qatari nation on hosting the 2022 World Cup.
Sheikh Hamad for his part termed Iran as an effective and important country in the region./end
