Qatari emir arrives in Tehran
Tehran, Dec 20, IRNA – Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani arrived here on Monday for a day long visit, and upon arrival was welcomed by caretaker of Iran's Foreign Ministry Ali-Akbar Salehi.
The Qatari emir is planned to confer withh the top Iranian officials including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on various issues.
President Ahmadinejad is due to officially welcome Sheikh Hamad later in the day.
On December 12, President Ahmadinejad and the Qatari emir held a telephone conversation during which Ahmadinejad congratulated the Qatari nation on hosting the 2022 World Cup.
Sheikh Hamad for his part termed the Islamic Republic of Iran as an effective and important country in the region./end
