Families of Chabahar terror victims write to UN chief
TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) -- The families of the victims of a recent terrorist attack in Iran have called on the United Nations to take serious measures to fight terrorism.
On Wednesday, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside a mosque in the southeastern city of Chabahar during a Shia religious ceremony, killing 35 people and injuring more than 100 others. Women and children were among the victims.
In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the families called on the United Nations to act according to its responsibilities mentioned in the UN charters.
The UN should identify and seriously deal with the culprits behind the vicious act it, they insisted.
The terrorist incident showed the terrorist groups will never stop their inhuman activities, the bereaved families noted.
What occurred in Chabahar was the result of certain countries’ support for terrorist groups under political motivations and also the silence of international organizations toward such acts, the letter read.
