SANA'A, Dec .18 (Saba) -
Yemen arrested 146 Ethiopians who infiltrated into it through November, the Interior
Ministry
has reported.
The arrests took place in seven provinces, most in Abyan, Lahj and Taiz.
On the other hand, the Immigration and Passport Authority has held 27 foreigners
for illegal stays in the country. They were from Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan and
Bangladesh.
There are about a million African refugees in Yemen and many more continue to
arrive in almost daily numbers.
Africans, mainly from Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia, flee deteriorating satiations
in the African horn through sea.
In recent years, Yemen has taken several measures to cope with the persistent
influx of refugees deemed as a burden on its economy and a threat to its national
security.
The measures included deportations of those who are not refugees.
