Thai airport urges passengers to early check in during New Year travelling

BANGKOK, Dec18(TNA) - Thailand's Suvarnabhumi International Airport has suggested that passengers arrive at the airport at least 2-3 hours before their departure times as a large number of international travellers are expected during the forthcoming New Year holidays.

Wilaiwan Natwilai, Suvarnabhumi Airport's spokesperson, said that an average of 130,000 passengers are expected to throng the Suvarnabhumi Airport daily during the New Year travelling, some 5 per cent increase from last year's. Therefore, passengers should arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure times for domestic flights and a minimum of 3 hours for international flights to provide sufficient time for check-in services, including passport security and baggage inspections.

Wilaiwan said that in complying with security measures required by the International Civil Aviation Organization or ICAO and in facilitating faster security inspections, passengers should prepare their fluid items, including spray and gel, only at a limit of 100 millilitre per bottle, noting that only 10 of them are permitted into one 20x20 zip-locked bag. In other cases, liquid goods are to be loaded under a plane’s compartment.

The airport spokesperson suggested that passengers be prepared for physical inspections by placing all their metal-based belongings, including belts, key-chains, cell-phones, laptop computers, and even jackets into trays available at the X-ray counter to speed-up the process.(TNA)
