Dong Nai reports record increase in FDI influx

Dong Nai (VNA) - The southeastern province of Dong Nai reported a record inflow of more than 2.4 billion USD in foreign direct investment capital since the beginning of the year, a 3.8 fold increase over the same period last year or 68 percent of the yearly plan.

In the reviewed period, the province licensed 58 new FDI projects totalling
almost 1.5 billion USD and permitted 74 projects to add a combined amount of
over 900 million USD.

Apart from traditional industrial production businesses, new projects
invest in service development, new urban areas construction, hi-tech and
support industries.

Noteworthy, the combined total investment capital of nine newly-licensed
projects in trade, service and urban areas accounts for more than 1.4
billion USD. These include a 750 million Long Hung ecological urban
project - a joint venture between the Dong Nai Agriculture Service
Cooperative Alliance (Dona Coop) and a number of foreign partners.

Dong Nai has so far had 940 valid foreign-invested projects, worth over 14
billion USD in total, of which more than 700 have been operational, creating
330,000 jobs for local people.

The province ranks third after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in FDI
attraction. Home to 27 concentrated industrial zones covering more than
8.300 ha, it has 66 percent of its total acreage leased.-Enditem
