RF, its partners searching for ways out of Korean tense situation.
MOSCOW, December 17 (Itar-Tass) - Russia together with other
international mediators are searching actively for the ways out of a tense
situation on the Korean Peninsula, the deputy director of the information
and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexei Sazonov, said
on Friday.
"Due to the recent events on the Korean Peninsula the Russian Foreign
Ministry continues consultations with foreign partners to discuss some
opportunities and ways out of a tense situation there," he said.
The diplomat recalled that on December 9 the Russian Foreign Ministry
hosted consultations between Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin and
Akitaka Saiki, the Japanese chief negotiator at the six-nation nuclear
talks. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a meeting with his North
Korean counterpart Pak Ui Chun in Moscow on December 13 and Borodavkin met
with Vee Son Nak, the South Korean chief negotiator at the six-nation
nuclear talks, on December 15. "On December 13-17, Russian ambassador at
large Grigory Logvinov held the Washington consultations with U.S.
partners on the Korean nuclear problem and a tense current situation in
the region," Sazonov underlined.
"Our consultations will be continued," the diplomat pledged.
