Baillieu has kidney stone surgery

Newly-elected Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu is in a Melbourne hospital following
surgery to remove a kidney stone.
In a statement, a spokesman for Mr Baillieu said the premier had undergone surgery
at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond on Wednesday to remove a kidney stone.
The surgery had included a general anaesthetic, he said.
"Mr Baillieu thanked the doctors and staff at Epworth for their care," the statement
said.
"Deputy Premier Peter Ryan has been appointed acting premier for a short period
while Mr Baillieu recovers from surgery."
Mr Baillieu's Coalition government was elected on November 27.
