Thailand’s corporate governance ranking significantly improves

BANGKOK, Dec 15(TNA)- Thailand’s Corporate Governance(CG) ranking has significantly improved this year, according to a recently released survey by the Asian Corporate Governance Association or ACGA, an independent organisation that works with companies, investors, and regulators throughout Asia.

Thailand came fourth comparatively out of eleven Asian markets in the quality of corporate governance. This was a vast improvement from the ACGA’s previous survey conducted in 2007 in which the Kingdom ranked eighth.
Singapore topped the list, followed by Hong Kong and Japan.
However, in global terms, Jamie Allen, ACGA Secretary-General said Asia still has a lot in which to improve.
Nevertheless, the ACGA Secretary-General noted that the overall standard of Asia has improved significantly in the past decade, as companies in the region have increasingly seen the importance of having strong corporate governance like good regulators, good corporate disclosure, and having an independent board of directors as strategies and conditions which would help businesses better manage risk and build reputation.(TNA)
