US Congress postpones Thaksin's testimony indefinitely

BANGKOK,Dec14(TNA)-The US Parliamentary Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe or CSCE has postponed its appointment with former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Thaksin's testimony over human right cases in Thailand indefinitely.

Noppadol Pattama, Thaksin's legal advisor and close aide, said on Tuesday (Dec 14) that he had acknowledged the indefinite postponement of Thaksin’s testimony and he would wait for a new schedule from the US congressional panel.

Noppadol insisted that he had not discussed the issue with Thaksin yet. But the lawyer of the convicted Thai premier pointed out that the postponement announced by the CSCE's spokesperson proved that the US parliamentary panel had really invited Thaksin to testify, and that Thaksin had not made up the story as accused by the Thai government.(TNA)
