Thai army confirms situation along Thai-Myanmar border returns to normal
BANGKOK,Dec 14(TNA)- Thailand’s 1st Army Region commander has confirmed situations along the Thai-Myanmar border have returned to normal.
Lieutenant General Udomdet Seetabutr, the commander of Thailand’s 1st Army Region, told reporters before leaving for the 9th Infantry Division in the western Kanchanaburi province, bordering Myanmar, that situations along the Thai-Myanmar border did not pose a concern for the time being although there had been battles between Myanmar soldiers and ethnic troops near the Three Pagodas border pass recently. He said that situations already returned to normal and Myanmar already re-opened its border pass for Thai people there.
However, he said, the 1st Army Region is monitoring situations closely. If there is any risk, the army will issue a warning to the people who regularly use the Three Pagodas border pass.
The 1st Army Region commander said he would give moral support to soldiers, border patrol police and paramilitary rangers deployed in the area as the officers had worked hard to ensure security as ordered by the Army chief.(TNA)
