Iran`s Interior Ministry bans pilgrimage visit to Iraq on personal visa
TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (MNA) -- In a statement issued on Monday a committee in the Interior Ministry tasked with coordinating pilgrimage affairs said that travelling to Iraq as pilgrim on personal visa is no longer allowed.
It said all those who wish to visit holy shrines in Iraq must travel through legal official agencies affiliated to Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
In order to prevent possible incidents, the police must not allow people to travel to Iraq on their own, the statement said.
Iranian pilgrims have many times come under attacks by terrorists in Iraq.
In the most recent attack early in December, 11 Iranian pilgrims were injured. The incident happened when a bus loaded with explosives crushed into a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims on the road to Kazemein outside Baghdad.
