Thailand hosts workshop preparing ASEAN students for ASEAN Community

BANGKOK,Dec14(TNA) - Thailand hosts a camp for students and teachers of 10 Southeast Asian nations to prepare for the ASEAN Community.
Officials of the Thai Ministry of Education brought a delegation of students, teachers, educators and school executives from 10 ASEAN member states to meet Thai Education Minister Chinnaworn Boonyakiart and they sang the “ASEAN Way” song together.
That was part of activities of a training workshop to prepare for the establishment of the ASEAN Community. The Office of the Basic Education Commission of Thailand organises the activities to teach educational personnel of Southeast Asian countries about ASEAN. About 300 teachers, school executives, students and educators of Thailand and nine other ASEAN members participate in the activities set at a hotel in Nakhon Nayok (นครนายก) province on December 10-19, 2010.
The academic training consists of various activities for teachers, students and educators of 10 ASEAN member states to exchange their knowledge and develop a network of learning that will support the establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015. The event is also aimed at developing Thailand into an educational center of the region.
Minister Chinnaworn said that the activities would allow participants to learn about one another and develop their skills of teamwork and social personalities that are essential for the establishment of the ASEAN Community.(TNA)
