S Korea-US coop aims at more confrontation against N Korea-paper.
13/12 Tass 89
PYONGYANG, December 13 (Itar-Tass) - The South Korean regime is
developing cooperation with foreign forces, especially the United States
and Japan, "to strengthen confrontation against their compatriots in North
Korea," the leading newspaper of the Workers' party of Korea (RPK) -
Rodong Sinmun - writes on Monday.
The author of the article recalls that the main theme of the recent
talks in Seoul between Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral
Michael Mullen and Chairman of South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff Han
Min-Koo was a "dangerous military scenario." "Washington openly supported
the South Korean plan to attack North Korea in case of a 'new
provocation', and agreed to hold regular US-South Korean manoeuvres,"
according to the publication.
The publication says that the United States and Japan, which have
strategic interests on the Korean Peninsula, "are interested in keeping
the tensions in the region." Such policies are undoubtedly "causing
enormous damage to the Korean nation as a whole," the Rodong Sinmun
emphasised. However, Seoul's conservative forces "continue to strengthen
the alliance with outside forces, trying to strangle its compatriots in
the North."
The newspaper warned that such actions "can cause catastrophic
consequences for the puppet regime."
