Britain, major country in human rights violation: Iran official

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA – Secretary of Iran’s Human Rights Headquarters Mohammad-Javad Larijani here on Monday stressed that Britain is a leading country in human rights violation.
Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of a human rights seminar, he said that Britain had better organize its domestic affairs and refrain from making baseless allegations.
Larijani further criticized British Ambassador to Tehran Simon Gass on his remarks about human rights in Iran.
They are trying to conceal the existing problems and shortcomings in their own country by such claims regarding the issue of human rights in other countries, he reiterated.
Since London has made use of human rights issue to defend terrorists, it has lost its position from the viewpoint of international public opinion, Larijani, who is also advisor to the Judiciary chief added.
The UK and US are the leading countries in human rights violation, he said, adding that they are accomplices to conduct the murder of tens of thousands of innocent people in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries accross the world and are also involved in the Zionists’ crimes in the occupied lands.
He further criticized the British police behavior towards the recent students' protests in London.
The most recent protests, which coincided with a vote in the House of Commons on removing the tuition fees cap, involved the worst violence.
MPs voted to allow fees to treble to up to £9,000 in England./end
