Students continue sit-in outside UK Embassy, hurl stones, eggs at bldg.

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA-- Students of Tehran universities on Sunday continued sit-in outside British Embassy in Tehran to protest assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists, calling for dismissal of British Ambassador to Tehran Simon Gass.

Police said cordoning off the scene of protests outside the Embassy main gate before 14:00 PM on Sunday as number of Iranian students, clad in black as a mourning sign and joining the demonstration, grew minute by minute.

The demonstrators chanted “God is the Greatest,” “There is no God but Allah”, “Down with the UK”, “Down with the US” and “Down with Israel”.

The students reportedly tossed eggs and stones at the Embassy compound to voice their outrage at the UK’s hostile approach and moves towards Iranian nation.

Putting the US and UK flags on fire, they also chanted slogans to demand capture of the Embassy.

MPs Assadollah Badamchian and Hamid Rasai were also among the demonstrators.

Attending the meeting, spokesman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Kazem Jalali, told IRNA that his Commission will in its earliest meeting shortly in the future consider low grading ties with the UK.

He said the demand, drafted into a bill, had already been on table at Majlis months ago and it would be on the Commission agenda next week.

He said Britain’s intervention in Iran’s internal affairs, the claims of the head of MI6, Sir John Sawers, on espionage in Iran and BBC’s conduct in connection with the country were the reasons prompting Tehran to reconsider lowering ties with London./end
